Georgia
Brown, born and raised in Fresno, California later moved to study at San
Jose State University, where she received her art degree. After working as
a graphic artist, Georgia turned her attention to fine arts. Living in
Santa Cruz, she is presently painting pastels and watercolors, focusing on
colors and impressions. Her work portrays an appreciation of the wide
range of colors found in the subtle changes of the California seasons. Her
watercolors take a fresh look at local scenes using rich deep colors and
sensitive brushwork
During
Ventana’s opening year, Georgia and her husband stopped by to have
lunch. The first thing she noticed was the large high window framing the
view of the hills above the restaurant. She saw it as a painting that
represented the best of California, framing the golden hills, blue sky,
and deep greens of the trees.
Ventana
remains her favorite place to visit, and the hills still fascinate her. In
the early days she felt it would be an ultimate goal to exhibit her
artwork here. In keeping with her desire to share the inspiring beauty,
Georgia has produced smaller paintings and note cards as affordable
original art. Most show the golden hills of summer, which she prefers to
the green of spring.
Following
a recent visit to the Southwest, Georgia has created a series of
Southwestern drawings with bright colors and simple designs. In addition
she is working on still life’s of the many flowers, fruits and
vegetables of the California scene.
Georgia
has exhibited in shows throughout the Bay Area and many of her works can
be found in private collections.
