Joel
Glick was born in Chicago. He practiced optometry until the call of
creativity became too strong to resist. He studied drawing and
design at the Art Institute of Chicago and ventured on to become
self-taught in multiple art fields.
He
moved to Florida and became involved in the field of interior deign and
the production of design shows. He is a past president of the
Designers and Decorators Guild of Miami.
At
this point, jewelry design, gemology and music also came into focus. He
turned to making fine jewelry, utilizing the process of lost wax casting
and gem cutting. Combining joint insights of the mineral kingdom
with a friend, he co-authored Healing Stoned, a book on the
therapeutic aspects of gems and minerals currently available in three
languages.
Joel
has been a resident of San Francisco for the past 16 years.
Recently, painting has also shared the focus of his attention.
Stimulated with fresh directions to explore, he now enjoys time in both
jewelry-making and working on canvas.
